Biography
Darlene Horsley, was born in Indiana where she grew up with a profound
love for nature and animals. She credits her father’s knowledge of the
seasons and patterns of wild things for her love of nature and living
creatures . That love is evidenced in her paintings.
Art has always been an important part of Darlene’s life and as a young
girl many hours were spent drawing the things she loved. It was not
until the loss of her oldest son that she discovered her love for
watercolor. To escape the pain of her aching heart, she found that
painting watercolors let her forget about time, would let her body stay
in one place while her mind and heart traveled to a quiet place of
healing.
Darlene is a self taught artist, who has experienced the healing power
of art and although she paints in several mediums, watercolor remains
her first love. “ The nature of watercolor is one that constantly
reminds us that we truly have no control in the scheme of things.”
Darlene lives in California with her husband Tim, of 25 years, has two
grown sons, is a member of several art associations in the San Fernando
Valley, as well as having been the editor of the San Fernando Valley Art Club’s
newsletter “The
Paint Rag” from 2005 through 2007.
